My Favorite Affordable Boho Athleisure Styles

I decided to share my favorite affordable boho athleisure styles this week because I just couldn’t keep these to myself any longer! They are insanely comfy and cute, and I get so many compliments in these pieces! There’s more though. According to the vogue “overlords” our fashion wishes are being granted this year! In 2021 athleisure is going to be “in style”! I guess they must have seen reason and figured they may as well go with the “flow” since trying to market much else to us would be a colossal flop with the pandemic still happening.

Speaking of flow, I did have to laugh when I read that athleisure is gonna be trending because apparently there is a new name for the style too. If you are sipping on coffee try not to snort it out your nose as you read this, but here it is….

“athflow”.

If I had not read that “athflow” was going to be a term for athleisure in 2021 think I probably would have either said “Excuse me, what did you just call me?” to the 1st person who said “nice athflow” to me-or I might have just simply slapped them.

Maybe it’s just me, but even though I think the concept is outstanding I don’t think “athflow” is going to be a term that is going to catch on in 2021, or ever. But you never know, I could be wrong. I mean, during the epic 80’s the name “scrunchies” obviously sounded cool—-or is was rad?

So what is athflow anyways? According to what I’ve read it is where athletic leisure attire meets a more elegant design. Think oversized outfits, flowy clothing, jumpsuits, and comfy yet miraculously attractive sweatpants (believe it or not I may or may not have landed some below….I’ll let you be the judge).

Basically we are talking the kind of clothing that looks good whether you are going to the work place but also if you’re working from home on the sofa and decide to jump up and do some random stretches. Interested yet?

Personally, although I don’t think the term “athflow” is going to catch on I do think that the idea and market for athflow is past here. Of course, we know that some of us mamas of toddlers have been rocking this style for quite some time, well before it had a fancy (albeit dubious) name!

Here are a few of my very favorite athleisure, or “athflow” garments.

Flare Leggings

I really like these. They’re comfortable, attractive and super duper versatile. These are great worn around the house, during some types of exercises, and for going out. They can even be worn on a date. I get a lot of compliments on these when I go out.

I find that the size seems to run a little big, for example I’m a 10-12 and the small fits but the medium fall down. You might have to be prepared to exchange a pair due to sizing but I honestly thing it could just be me because according to the ratings most people think the size runs true.

I seriously want every single one of the prints they have these in (except for the plaid ones). Here is the best part, they are only $16 with shipping. Did I mention they are super buttery soft?

Harem Pants

Next up are these harem pants. These are the miraculously attractive “sweatpants” I was talking about. The 1st time I put a picture of myself wearing these online I got flooded with questions as to where I got them. These are so comfortable and cute! Not sure these could be worn to the office though. They definitely would be fine for around the house, working from home, and running to the store in my opinion.

Here’s the thing about these harem pants, they are really flowy but thin. So if you’re gonna wear them in the winter or cooler months you might want to wear some warm leggings or long Johns under them. One of my favorite things about these is that they are a 100% rayon so they are flowy and comfortable and they don’t get all staticky like synthetics do.

I wouldn’t get the smocked ones (top on my ballerina daughter) if you need tummy support for mummy tummy-but that could just be me. I’d get the regular tie waist ones (below) if you’re wanting something more forgiving in the waist area.

ODODOS HIGHWAIST BOOTCUT YOGA PANTS

I wasn’t able to get a picture of myself in these in time for this post, but I highly recommend these! They are unbelievably comfortable, they don’t roll down in the tummy area, and they are thicker fabric/well made. I love the pair I got and will be getting more soon. To me they feel and appear to have some tummy control too which I appreciate!

Speaking of pants and leggings we recently discovered these activewear jogger track cuff sweatpants. We bought these for our daughter and they are so cute! I have not tried them yet so I don’t know how well that will work on curvy mama’ but they are loose and flowy so I’m thinking they will be perfect.

Tops

Made by Johnny makes the great athleisure tops that work for various occasions. I love to pair the leggings (first item above) with their asymmetrical tops. Not kidding, people stopping in the store and ask me where I get these tops.

OK so here’s the thing, if you have mummy tummy or are a larger size you may to want to either size up or wear a little support under the asymmetrical tank tops because they do not hide mummy tummy at all if they are snug. They are also a little on the thinner fabric side so if you are a medium or large they are not forgiving (you’ll see bra lines in the back-see middle picture below). They are excellent for layering no matter what size you are though (last picture below).

Their scoop neck pleated tunics (below) are nice with the leggings too, especially for date night! My favorite thing to pair the scoop neck pleated tunic with though are the harem pants.
