Considering the pandemic related restrictions regarding wearing face masks it only makes sense that make up trends would take a back burner this year and that Minimalistic Skincare-Skinimalism- would take a big step forward. If you haven’t heard the term “skinamalism” yet and haven’t guessed its meaning, it is basically just a new word coined to describe a minimalistic skin care and makeup routine.

Skinamalism make sense this year when you think about it. I mean, who wants to put on a full face of makeup when they are quarantined, or when you’re going out but are just going to have to cover up half your face and much of the makeup is going to end up on a mask?

The thing is that although make up trends are taking a back burner right now and although many of us are home bound this doesn’t mean we want to just let our skin go. In addition to that I think a lot of us ladies are getting tired of relying on our masks to help keep us from being recognized every time we go out with that “just came out of hibernation crazy hair and pj’s or athletic attire” that we’ve been falling back on!

So today I thought I would share some “skinamalism” tips and tricks I’ve been using this past year that I think you will enjoy implementing into your skin care routine (or using for a routine if you don’t have one).

My Minimalistic Skincare-Skinimalism Routine For Glowing Skin

  1. Lately I have been using and loving Bloom face wash by Young Living. It is super gentle yet effective and makes my skin look so good after using. Not only that, it is scented with essential oils and the scent is so uplifting. I think everybody could use some uplifting during these times! GET BLOOM FROM YOUNG LIVING HERE
  2. After that I like to use a toner. I’m using an alcohol free witch hazel toner. I like that it is alcohol free so that it does not disturb the ph balance of my skin.
  3. I have normal to dry skin and I have been loving this retinol face lotion that I found on Amazon. It is an Amazon’s Choice product and it has a lot of great reviews. I can tell a big difference when I use it.
  4. I use an eye cream too, however I have yet to find one that I love. If anybody out there can recommend one to help with puffy eyes please let me know! Ever since my thyroid issues started I’ve had issues with puffy eyes! FYI, I really wish I had started using an eye cream sooner. By the time I started using I cream it was too late and my eyes had already started showing several signs of ageing. So gals, listen up, start using eye cream in your twenties and thirties even if you don’t think you need it!

My Minimalistic Makeup Routine For Healthy Skin

I’m pretty sure I don’t need to specify that this is totally optional, but I personally like to put on at least a little bit of makeup each day. I feel like it helps me feel a little better about myself and that it helps me take my job as a home schooling mom and mom a little more “professionally”. That might sound weird to some of you but hey, it works for me. Here’s my simple routine;

  1. I like to use foundation daily because I use a brand that moisturizes and protects the skin, and my skin just loves it! It’s by Southern Magnolia Minerals. GET IT HERE.
  2. Lately I’ve been using a little less blush and mascara but I’m definitely still using these. I use a brand called Jenny Ann’s and they are mineral based. Again they are nourishing to the skin and lashes which is part of why I love them. GET BOTH FROM AZURE STANDARD HERE.
  3. I’ve been enjoying playing up the eyes more lately as that really helps dress up mask face 😷 !
  4. Lastly, though not skin related, I’ve found that playing up nails and hair is great way to vamp up the overall pandemic style.

Let me hear some of your minimalistic skin care tips, and tell me how you have been styling lately? And hey, if you enjoyed Minimalistic Skincare-Skinimalism, be sure to check out my other Beauty and Style related posts HERE.
