You guys! I have been tickled to see that crochet is making a comeback. I have been noticing that crocheted pieces have been rising in popularity the last couple years and I think this year it is going to be reaching an all time high. Today I’ve got 5 Satisfying Fast and Easy Crochet Projects that I’ve been diggin lately.

Seriously, IMO it’s high time the art of crochet makes a comeback. Especially during these challenging times where so many are still home due to the pandemic. If you don’t know how to crochet don’t worry, there are TON’S of tutorials on YouTube. There are even tutorials for left handed people. It’s super easy, just look it up and you’ll see.

I learned how to crochet when I was a teenager, over 20 years ago, way before it was popular again! Back then I discovered that not only are crochet pieces super pretty if you use the right yarns, but it is one of the most relaxing, therapeutic crafts I know of. Crocheting has a way of giving the brain a break while keeping the hands occupied all the while creating something.

The best thing of all is that, let’s say you make too many hot pads or ear warmers or whatever because you’re super stressed. You can just give them away as gifts later!

Crochet Tip-A Word About Yarns

I mentioned the yarn above. I just want to say a couple more things about it. I know that the acrylic yarn choice of yesteryear that has been around forever is super cheap, but it’s one of the reason crochet gifts sometimes get a bad rap. There are SO many stunningly gorgeous and still affordable yarn options available now. Not only does a specialty yarn create an even more meaningful gift but it’s actually WAY more fun to work with. I’ve created a section in my Amazon store with some of my favorite yarn options that are available that I’ve used. Here are some pictures of how beautiful a specialty yarn can be!

Today I will share some of my very favorite crochet projects that are not too overwhelming to take on.

Chunky Afghan

I finally just made another afghan for my family. I’ve been wanting to make another one for years. The first one I made (below) took 4 years because the yarn was finer!

The nice thing is about a big chunky afghan is that by using big yarn and a large crochet hook is it won’t take you very long to finish. Chunky yarn blankets are super soft, definitely not grannyish, easy to make, and so pretty! I think they add the perfect touch of texture to spaces. Our new afghan (below) took less than a month of working on it in the evenings sometimes and some weekends (totally wasn’t overwhelming).

Hot Pads

I know, this one is kind of cliché. But a properly made crochet hot pad makes the best hot pad. They outlast regular cotton hot pads by year’s. They are easy to wash, hard to ruin, and I personally think they look better!

Hats

I love having soft chunky crocheted hats around for my babies. They look so cute in them! Of course I probably would too if I had the right face and head shape. I don’t though, so I use use ear warmers instead.

Ear Warmers

I bought an ear warmer at Walmart for 12 bucks and love it. I decided I wanted to get some more colors and then I realized how easy these ear warmers would be to make! So I started making them for myself and some friends. Depending on the kind of yarn used they take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours. That’s not bad! I like that with ear warmers they don’t mess up the hair.

Scarves

I love making scarves for my guys and the men in my family. I made scarves for them last Christmas and they loved them. Of course scarves can be for yourself or ladies too. You just want to be sure to use extra soft yarn if it’s going around someone’s neck. Some people (me) are supersensitive about stuff around their neck and cannot handle certain textures.
