I thought holiday menu planning this year might be a little trickier because a couple months ago we went gluten free as a family. It ended up being really easy to come up with some nicer food plans though and so I decided I should share 5 Fancy Gluten Free Holiday Menu Idea’s that I’ve been dreaming up for others out there that are gluten free.
I think one of my favorite things about the holiday’s is planning some extra special foods to make for my family. Anybody else out there share these sentiments? There is just something so warm and jovial about pulling out the fancy spreads and foods this time of year!
FYI, of these recipes could work for a variety of holiday’s including Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Scroll down for the inspo, and before you go drop a comment and tell me your holiday menu plans!
5 Fancy Gluten Free Holiday Menu Idea’s
Gluten free focaccia has been a treat we’ve been enjoying, and it’s made extra fancy by the food artwork my oldest daughter does with it! You can make focaccia with any gluten free bread recipe. Currently we have been loving the bread recipes IN THIS BOOK (affiliate link) and the focaccia recipe in THIS BOOK.
I think one of my favorite things about gluten free focaccia is that it’s so perfect paired with a dipping sauce made with high quality olive oil, a little minced garlic and some fresh rosemary sprigs.
Here are some of the lovely designs my oldest daughter has made so far.
One of the tricks when making focaccia is to dip your fingers in olive oil and make dents all over the top of the bread when it is rising. Next you want to sprinkle some course salt over the top (pink Himalayan is our favorite). Be sure to serve gluten free focaccia while it’s still warm! It can get a little stiff when it cools too much.
Zabaglione is a super luxurious Italian dessert and historically is served mainly at Christmastime. My husband and I love it with strawberries and cream. My zabaglione recipe is not published yet, the recipe is not going live until December 14th. You’ll be able to find it HERE once it goes live. If you want to be sure to catch that recipe make sure you subscribe to my emails for an alert once that post is published.
Caesar salad is one of our all time favorites. We can eat this endlessly! It’s got anchovy paste-but we never tell the anchovy haters because they love this salad as much as we don’t want to spoil it for them! This is truly the best recipe we’ve ever tried when it comes to Caesar salad! If you are gluten free simply omit the croutons or opt for gluten free ones. TIP! Parmesan crisps are a wonderful sub for the croutons! Get the recipe HERE.
If Caesar salad isn’t your thing, or if you are wanting two salads then try Mediterranean Cabbage Salad, it is another one of our family favorites. You can practically make a meal out of a bowl or two of this, it’s super filling and so addictive! Get the recipe HERE.
If you love lamb then we think you’ll like my lamb seasoning recipe. We sure do! Get the recipe HERE.
