Okay friends, this is definitely going to be more of a strictly lifestyle post! Normally I try to share lifestyle posts with content that is educational, but Sweet Anniversary Inspo for Idea’s is going to be mostly for fun because who doesn’t love special occasions and fancy food, right?
So last April my husband and I celebrated our 16th Anniversary. For our 15th Anniversary I shared 15 Things We’ve Learned in 15 Years of Marriage, and so this year I thought I’d keep it light and fun and share how we spent our anniversary during the COVID-19 quarantine pandemic.
For our anniversary last spring, John had been planning to take me out to a nice restaurant he had heard about. But of course that idea was out because of the coronavirus.
That’s not a big problem for us, even though we have six kids! Through the years we’ve become masters at home date nights and we actually enjoy them! If you want to know how we do this read my post SIX DATE NIGHT AT HOME TIPS FOR PARENTS.
Almost a week in advance for our 16th anniversary John started planning a special dinner at home he wanted to make me and although he didn’t tell me what he was going to make he dropped hints and brought it up almost daily.
Finally I started realizing what a big fuss he was making, and all the detail and thought he was putting into this. That’s when I realized I must do something extra special for him too!
I told him I wanted in on the action, and that I wanted to make him some halibut. He had never had it before and I’ve talked about it to him for years and always wanted to make him some. We agreed we would both cook a gourmet dinner together that evening and just enjoy spending time together.
Our menu was burgers for the kids, tri tip steak with a peppers and onion saute (he made-it was out of this world good), zabaglione and halibut with a fennel lemon sauce (I made). We also made roasted asparagus and mushrooms in garlic sauce
I made a point to get some pictures of the zabaglione because I’m going to share my recipe with you all in another post. I made it just before John joined me in the kitchen. After that I didn’t get as many pictures of the food as I had intended too.
I was kinda distracted.
Do you really blame me?
Over our anniversary weekend we had a special anniversary photo session-compliments of our two oldest children, and after that we went on a family nature walk. I haven’t been able to get my hubby out into these mountains and woods I grew up in and love so much as often as would like to. So when I do get him out there I love watching him. He’s a pretty easy going guy, but it seems like he’s a little more at peace whenever we get out into nature. I love watching him stare at all the beauty.
Okay, so now for our photography session! Our kids did such a great job! Friends, this is going to be photo overload but I loved all these and am going to treasure them forever! I couldn’t decide which ones to leave out here!
