Have you been asking, “Should I be prepping for doomsday? I don’t think you are alone if you have been. I can completely see why people are asking this question. All over the world, it just seems like things are getting crazier and crazier!

Last month I was asked a more detailed question on this topic though, “Should Christians be preppers?”

Hmmmm. That is a good question.

Over the years I’ve come across three groups of people when it comes to this topic. In the first group (which is coincidentally the group I was raised in) we have the voracious preppers who will eagerly answer this question with an, “Absolutely”! They would then proceed to follow with 50 conspiracy stories they read or heard “just yesterday” about the pending doom that is coming and will be here on some specific date (last year the world was supposed to end in July, in case you didn’t know).

Then there are the carefree non preppers. They’d be like, “Meh”.

When it comes to the first two groups I believe the 2020 pandemic brought some perspective to the world.

There is a third group though. The group that would like to prep, but cannot. Either they pretty much live paycheck to paycheck and cannot afford groceries beyond the immediate needs, or else they live in tiny apartments or homes and barely have elbow room, let alone storage space. They live in fear and dread of what “may” happen, and don’t know what they would do should something like 2020, or worse, happen again.

In today’s video, I’m speaking to all three groups. I found some Bible verses that actually talk about this topic! What I found might surprise you!

And since it just so happened this question came in the same month I was cleaning out our pantry, I thought I’d also share some budget friendly options for pantry organization, and the budget friendly resource for healthy groceries, supplements, and home goods that we use and love for our larger family. I’ve even got a 15% off code for new customers!

Bible Verses to Keep in Mind when Considering Prepping

Many people who get too caught up in prepping and hiding with stashes forget that we have some direct orders from the scriptures.

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Matthew 28:19

Clearly, we are not supposed to be hermits hiding in the hills at all times. Darn!

Do you struggle with fear over the uncertainty of the future like I used to? Here is what the Bible has to say about that,

Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God.I will strengthen you, I will also help you,I will also uphold you with My righteous right hand.’” Isaiah 41:10

25 Therefore I say unto you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment? 26 Behold the birds of the heaven, that they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; and your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are not ye of much more value than they? 27 And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit unto [a]the measure of his life? 28 And why are ye anxious concerning raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God doth so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Be not therefore anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Be not therefore anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. ” Matthew 6:25-34

Of course there is a balance to be achieved.

“Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard?” Proverbs 6:6-11

In conclusion, it is my understanding that as with all things, the question of, “Should I be prepping for doomsday?” Is one we need to approach with prayer, balance, and wisdom. God is the one we need to seek answers from in this area, and He will guide us with the Holy Spirit in answering this if we are doing our best to walk with God.
