EEEEEK!!!!! Seriously?!?!?! I’m pinching myself over here! Women of the world on missions, I’m beyond thrilled to share my Plum Planner Review with you!!!

FYI, this post is completely unsponsored.

The Importance of Planning (for me)

I don’t know about you but if I don’t have a plan, nothing at all gets done. I have to have a detailed plan too because like my two boys I have ADHD. If it’s a noisy weekday, 6 kids are going different directions, the baby is teething, and I’ve not had a good nights sleep which I seldom do, I can’t think of what needs to be done when it needs to be done.

One of the problems I was running into was a regular planner wasn’t cutting it. To be honest, it never really has. They never contained enough spaces for the things I needed spaces for.

If you look at my generic planners that I’ve always bought there will be weeks where there is nothing—not because I didn’t have anything to do but because when I had a quiet moment to plan my brain was to fried to think or because I couldn’t get a quiet time to plan. I can assure you-these blank weeks were bad weeks.

Since writing about these planners won’t do them justice, I’ve got a YouTube video to just show you.

Find it below.

So my planners are my brain when my brain is on overload which for me happens easily if I have not set my course in the quiet moments at the beginning of the week.

Plum Planner Review, Favorite Features

I have been feeling super scattered lately. One of the reasons for this is because a typical workday for me is between 16 and 18 hours.

Homeschooling 6 kids teen to tot also has a lot to do with it.

One of the problems I was having was since my regular planner hasn’t been cutting it I was using two google calendars, my blogging guide here, my self care journal-more on that in a minute, this big notepad, and my day planner.

Since I’m a homeschooling mom it’s that time of year that I like to start making plans for the upcoming school year so I of course need academic calendars/planners and this is the time of year I always get a new one.

I knew this year that I needed to do something different though. So I did some looking around, and posted in a blogger homeschool mom’s group on Facebook asking other blogging homeschool mom’s what their favorite planners were. A couple women suggested Plum and it was the only one I had not yet heard of or seen so I went to check them out.

I was in awe! I didn’t know there was a planner like what they provide!!!

Here are some of my favorite features that I fell in love with Plum Planners over-but remember if you watch the video all of this will make more sense.

  • You can pick when you want it to start and end up to 18 months. I selected that I wanted mine to start in May and end next year in July.
  • One of the things I love about Plum Planners is that you can designate and customize each section. I put a lot of prayer and thought into each section I chose because I really need the Lord’s wisdom to help me prioritize. Each section in my planner represents the top priorities that I never want to forget.
  • These planners are fully customizable-personalized.
  • So many add ons, from business add ons to budget add on’s. In my main one I have a section for my blog, one for family meetings, one for meal planning and notes. Maybe you don’t have a blog, so instead you could choose sections for budget or meal planning. You can even get education sections though-they have add on’s for teachers and homeschoolers too, as well as lifestyle add ons, budget add ons- you name it.
  • They have very durable-covers are tear and water resistant!
  • Excellent binding.

Plum Notebooks

I could not fit everything I wanted into one planner. I was intending to just get two planners but then I noticed Plum Notebooks. They are very similar to the planners. They too are customizable and were perfect to fit the items that wouldn’t fit into the planner!

I’m going to be 100%, you guys and tell you a secret. I recently took a huge step that I’ve needed to take for years, and I’ve actually started seeing a counselor for anxiety and some life coaching.

My counselor has been helping me realize how poorly I’ve been taking care of myself, and the first thing she recommended for me and has been working with me on is self care.

Friends, this is so hard for me. Self care is something I’ve NEVER in my life really truly learned. I’m in my 40’s and am just now learning this.

To help me I chose the wellness notebook-and I added a budget section, behavior section, home section as well as a prayer and gratitude section.

Optional Stickers

When I first saw stickers for planners I thought they were stupid. I was like-“I’m not 5”.

It took me awhile to realize they do have a purpose. I’ve always realized that on the weeks I’m able to plan well, the solid black pages of ink all kind of meshed into a jumble for my eyes. It was a lot to look at and a little depressing.

I’ve learned that stickers can break things up and that my eyes don’t go buggy quite as bad if I do two things-stickers and different colored markers. I don’t have a color coding system but I’m think about doing that.

Another advantage to stickers is if there’s an appointment coming up a sticker kind of jumps out and reminds me.

Plum Planners offers so many sticker packages! They have packages for running the home, a blog, and so much more!

Conclusion

So far, I’ve been experiencing more peace and life organization thanks to my Plum Planners-and even the older kids have been drawn to the planner and started using it. My oldest son recently told someone he had a planner and he was referring to mine!

I really appreciate how because these planners are so customizable that they have a big impact on helping our family all get on the same page. I highly recommend Plum Planners!

  1. Oh, Shayla, so much of what you describe sounds like aspects of my life and my frustrations with most planners! I eventually found Bullet Journaling to be my solution, but if I ever get sick of that, I will def look into Plum (and if you ever tire of Plum then you can try BuJo haha)!

I want to be a planner so bad!! I’m just not, and not sure how to be – lol! I am a list maker, so maybe that’s a start! I love planners, though! And I love writing things down! sigh

What do you think? I really want to know! If you have feedback or something to add to this post let's hear it!
