Hello Everyone! So I totally missed posting our favorites in March. Since these are always a hit I decided to do an Our 7 Favorite Things This Spring post and just combine March and April.
I don’t know what it is about March, but we’ve had two rough March’s in a row now. We ended up catching a stomach bug the first part of March, in addition to this I had a rough miscarriage (I had one almost identical to this one last March too-you can read more on that HERE if you want to). During all of that the stomach bug moved into a bad cold followed by allergies.
With a family as big as ours, it takes awhile for colds to run through everyone, so we actually started our quarantine the first of March. I was really glad for April to arrive when it did!
So here goes……
Our 7 Favorite Things This Spring
Favorite Useful Items
I’ve got two favorite useful items this month. One is these loofah scrub pads. These are a lot like non scratch Scotch Brites only these are compostable, so “green”, and environmentally friendly which is in line with our family’s sustainable mission.
Another nice thing about these is according to the manufacturer these will harbor less bacterial growth and won’t stink if left overnight, plus they get foamy more easily.
My other favorite useful item is this pan rack my husband made and the small open shelving for our cups! We removed the cabinet that was there before and I love the open look so much more. There is more I love about the cabinet being gone but I’ll save that for a kitchen update post later!
Favorite Drink
In March my favorite beverage was definitely water. The fading winter and season change was making us all feel a little dry, so we all drank a little more water than usual.
Favorite Cookbook
Since my Hashimoto’s Hypothyroidism diagnosis, I have been trying to stay gluten free, and as often as I can I try to stick to the AIP diet. So my favorite cookbook is the Hashimoto’s AIP Cookbook. First I tried the free kindle version and after finding I loved it I splurged and got the paperback because I always find real books a little easier to use.
Favorite Essential Oils
Definitely oils for neck discomfort and respiratory support. With our kids, including our little man not feeling so great for a good part of March, this meant poor sleep for this mama. Whenever that happens my neck gives me trouble. So oils for my neck have been my best oily friend so far this spring.
In addition to that allergies came early this year and have been affecting all of us. So we’ve been diffusing oils for respiratory/sinus support.
If you are interested in learning more about how oils can support you, feel free to take advantage of a free, two week trial period in my group ESSENTIAL MEMBERS found HERE. In this group you’ll find free videos and a bootcamp to help you get started on the path to a healthier lifestyle.
Favorite YouTubers
For business, I’ve really been enjoying Vanessa Lau’s social media, coaching and entrepreneurship videos. They are super informative and pretty short so I can watch one while I’m getting ready for the day in the morning and cleaning my room. I highly recommend her if you are trying to learn how to grow on social media.
For homeschooling I’ve been loving the usual! It’s hard to top Sonja over at Simply Charlotte Mason. I always find her teaching videos helpful, inspiring, and applicable.
The kids have been eating up all the Ted Ed talks they can! The younger kids have been enjoying science videos by Susan Evans and the two older kids have been watching more Blimey Cow lately. We loved this one!
Favorite Day
My hubby and I would absolutely pick April 3rd because this was our 16th wedding anniversary. It’s always such a special day. I have a whole post featuring how we spent the day, you can catch it and our photo session HERE.
Favorite Discovery
The family would definitely say this award goes to the nature walk area that is about a 2 minute drive from our house! That’s right! Two minutes! We could walk there if we wanted to. We probably will when the baby is older.
You know, this is where I grew up. My step dad always used to call it “God’s Country” but I never really knew what he meant until I moved away and then came back.
There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not grateful to be back home. I’ve learned a valuable lesson too. You can take a girl out of the north, but you can’t take the north out of the girl. I’m so glad to be home.
On that note, The PNW is seriously a slice of heaven. I’ve often pondered what made me ever think I could get this place out of my blood? Of course I don’t have to think too long to remember that there was something big missing. It was this man, and these people…..
I could not be happier now, to have my family and my hometown. One of my favorite things to do is take my family to places like this and watch the stress melt away from them as they peacefully marvel at all there is to take in. Even the baby is in wonderland!
That’s all for this (two) months favorites! Stay tuned for next time! Be sure to check out my previous Favorite Things posts HERE.
BTW, I’ve been working hard at improving the YouTube channel for Singing A New Song lately! Check it out and don’t forget to subscribe!
