It’s been months since my last thrift store shopping trip and I am seriously jonesing here. I thought why not reminisce about my thrift store days of old with a post about my favorite thrift clothing find, which is this Free People Dress Bargain Score!
Free People Dress Bargain Score!
You know how one day you are browsing your absolute favorite clothing website? And not to actually shop, but just for inspo because you know you’ll probably never buy anything from the company because you’re a big family mama on a budget, and the prices of the clothing are waaaaay out of your pocketbook realm? Then THE SAME WEEK you’re browsing your favorite thrift store and see a dress from that website for just a few bucks?
If so, then you know how much it meant to me to score this dress!
You guys, I’ve been swooning off and on over Free People dresses and skirts for only about 5 years.
Lace dresses similar to the one I found here easily run around $550 from Free People.
I found it, tags still on, for $6.00.
Friends, I believe God does things like this to us hoping we will pick up the hints, that HE SEES. He’s watching us. Loving us.
I struggle sometimes. My mind always gravitates to the pessimistic place of thinking, “I don’t matter to HIM.” It’s always like a dance God and I do. He constantly shows His love to me, but too often I miss the cues.
Sometimes I have to crash before I can consciously stop and remind myself of His promises.
That when life is intense and I cannot feel Him, He’s still there. He sees. And He cares.
He saw and was there through my broken childhood. He saw and was there when I would escape to the forests because it was the only place I truly found His peace. He was most certainly there when I would get lost exploring, and He gave me the sense of direction I needed to find my way back.
He’s seen and been there through the traumatic experiences of my adulthood, carrying me through even when I wasn’t sure. He’s stood there holding the pieces and helped me rebuild, each time a little stronger than before.
When things like finding this dress happen the way this did I’m always in shock.
It’s just a dress. I know that’s what you are thinking. And you are right. It’s just a dress, and God knew I wanted a Free People lace dress. He knew I’m trying to be a wise steward with the money He’s given us, and that He hasn’t given us great wealth. So he gave me a small desire of my heart that is normally a $500 plus dollar expense, but He gave it to me for a few bucks.
I really love this dress. If I had seen it on the website I never would have bought it because I never would have guessed it would look good on me. When I saw it hanging in the Goodwill on display, and then when I saw the tags I was so excited to try it on, and completely shocked that a. it fit and b. that it looked good.
I asked my daughter if I looked alright when I was trying it on in the store and her eyes widened. “YES! YOU HAVE TO GET THAT!!!” She exclaimed.
I wore it for mine and my husband’s 16th Anniversary photography session SEE THE FULL SESSION HERE.
Friends, I guess what I’m trying to say, is look for the miracles and proof of His love. They are around. You’ll see them if you look. And don’t forget to check the thrift stores.
