The Importance of Chores for Keeping The Peace
I’m so excited to tell parents out there about the best effective chore chart system for kids that I’ve ever used because I’ve used a few, and so many just create more trouble than they are worth! This is the only one that didn’t do that for our big crazy family! But before I talk about the Best Effective Chore Chart System for Kids let’s talk about why it’s important for kids to do chores.
One of the most helpful ways to keep family chaos to a minimum and in keeping things running smoothly and productively is making sure chores are done. Without fail, not long after a few chores are forgotten or when something happens to disrupt the chore system it isn’t very long before chaos rules and life for everyone get’s miserable!
A great example is dishes. This is especially critical in bigger families. Big families dirty through all the plates and cups after just a couple meals. So if someone forgets to wash the dishes it’s not even one day before there are no clean dishes to eat off of!
And you think public restrooms are bad? Well, if bathrooms in a big family are not at least spot cleaned daily-lets just say they can make some public restrooms look inviting, lol!
I know there are some mom’s out there that pride themselves in doing it all-and don’t assign chores. I assuming if you are here you are not one of these moms! But if you wonder whether or not chores are good for kids, or if you feel guilty for having your kids do chores, READ THIS ARTICLE and THIS ARTICLE, According to it kids who were given chores were/are predicted to have better health and well being later in life, and become happier. I suggest reading the whole article if you have time!
But let’s face it, if you have a big family it’s not even possible for you to do it all. Especially if you are homeschooling too.
The Challenge-Finding Effective Chore Charts that actually work
The challenge lies in effective chore charts. Again, some chore charts can be more trouble than they are worth if you have a big family.
Around three or four years ago after trying this and that with limited success, we were at some friends home when I noticed her chore system. Apparently she found it at a homeschool convention (you gotta love those)!
Although it was expensive for us because of how many kids we have, we decided the system looked too good to pass. And we were getting desperate! So we “splurged” on the system and it proved to be more than worth every penny.
Over the years, as long as we stuck to this system things around the house went smoothly for us!
Last year our family relocated from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest. When we moved into our new home I thought I would try doing a different system because I wanted to take my time to figure out the best location for the system. In the meantime I created chore charts and posted them on the fridge.
After several months of hounding the kids and listening to them bicker and argue among themselves, and constantly finding chores undone, I had to face the fact that the new fridge system was NOT working by any stretch of the imagination, and was NEVER going to work.
I think I know why too. Just the sight of it was too much for the eyes.
“THAT’S IT!” I exclaimed one day. “We are getting the old chore chart system set up THIS weekend!!!”
Setting Up The Best Effective Chore Chart System for Kids
So my husband and I went into storage and found the chore chart system, and spent some time over the weekend setting up the boards.
It wasn’t even halfway through the first day back on the system before I noticed a major change, and a new level of peace in our home. One of my favorite thing about this system is that the kids are more responsible for themselves while using it.
After two weeks and I was kicking myself for not having re-established the amazing system sooner.

When I created the new system I had some criteria’s I wanted to meet.
- I wanted my system to even easier to use then the first one
- I wanted to be faith based with a secular option
- I wanted it to include some character and habit training options (we aspire to Charlotte Mason pedagogy
- as an artist I wanted a system that was beautiful and would look pretty on the wall
I think we achieved this! Take a look!
I created a few ways to use this system so families could choose what works best for them. I will go into further detail on how to use these in the instructions that come as a pdf when you purchase the system, and you can find the details in the video presentation above.
UPDATE1/21/2020
I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve recently added additional cards and options to my system!
The NEW SYSTEM
How The Best Effective Chore Chart System for Kids Works-Spoiler Alert, It’s SO EASY!
I’ll explain our favorite way to use the chore chart system. We like the board system (shown below). My husband is a carpenter/woodworker so he made ours with a wood that complimented our decor 😀 . We keep our’s in our hallway.
After you purchase and download the Best Effective Chore Chart System for Kids, you can select which ones you want to use for each child, print them, and cut them out. After you put them in the order you want the chores to be done in you can start using them!
Above-place the daily chores on the first hook.
As your child finishes each chore, they simply take the completed chore card off the hook……
….then they spin it around and place it on the next hook.
TIP; I numbered the cards because every-now and then a child will accidentally spill them, or a random gust of wind blows them off, lol! I found that numbering the cards and putting the children’s initial on their card helps to make it fast and easy to put them back in order if they are spilled. If you are going to use this tip I do recommend using the system for a couple days first to make sure you have the cards in the order you want them -writing lightly in pencil is a good idea so you can change them if needed.
Another tip; on the bottom of the card you can write M for morning, A for afternoon or after lunch, and E for evening so your child knows when to do the chores.
Above- There are five hooks. We use the first two hooks for the weekdays, and the 3rd and 4th hooks for weekend and once a month chores and activities.
The last hook is for rewards, which is perhaps one of the most important pieces to making the system work (kids are not as motivated to complete chores if there is never a reward).
The Best Effective Chore Chart System for Kids is by far the most effective, easiest, and fun system we’ve ever found for helping keep our kids on track when it comes to doing chores and keeping big family chaos to manageable level! We are so thrilled to be able to offer this product to you and we hope it helps tame craziness in your home like it has ours!

Notice; This post Best Effective Chore Chart System for Kids, was originally written as a review of our favorite chore chart system. After two months of publishing this post a reader informed me that the company that made the system I initially wrote about was going out of business and they asked me if I could help them find something similar.
After multiple attempts to contact the company of the original chore chart system they eventually got back with me and confirmed that they were in fact going out of business. So for myself and my readers, I decided that I would start from scratch, and create an updated, even better chore chart system with more variations than the initial system, and that I would make it a digital product people could download.
