Babyganics Diapers Review, & Why to Choose Non-Toxic Diapers

Ever since our move I’ve not been able to get back to cloth diapering. I’ve tried, and I NEED to try again, but I’m not sure if it was the sixth child, recovering from such a major move, or both that brought this mama the last spinning plate she could handle on some days! Until I do get back to cloth diapers though I have found the BEST disposables, so I thought I’d feature them in this Babyganics Diapers Review, & Why to Choose Non-Toxic Diapers.

Why I chose Babyganics Diapers

Ever since studying for my masters in herbology from the School of Natural Healing in the mid-latter 90’s I’ve tried to stay as synthetic chemical free and as non toxic as possible. I’ve always tried to choose natural bath & body products as well as non toxic cleaners for my home.

When I became a mother in 2005 I became even more passionate about my commitment to a non toxic lifestyle.

Although we do use some chemical cleaners, I’d say we are probably around 80/20 green/chemical. The primary chemical is bleach-there are just some jobs you definitely want that around for!

We only use natural bath and body products though. An app I highly recommend everyone have is Think Dirty. I know, it sounds bad but it’s not! I’ll link to it below. You can use it to scan products like your baby shampoo and it will tell you on a scale of 1 to 10 how toxic the ingredients are. So many products, including baby shampoos are highly carcinogenic and hormone disrupting! Here’s a short video describing the app.

So anything that can be absorbed by the skin we keep natural.

I’ve not always been super careful about what diapers we choose, I’ve kind of gone back and forth as our budget allowed since I mainly only would put my babies in a disposable at night and cloth diaper during the day.

When I realized that with baby #6 I wasn’t going to be able to get back to cloth diapering anytime soon I started looking at my non toxic options. I wanted non toxic for our little man since he was going to be in them all the time. Did you know that regular diapers have up to 13 TOXIC chemicals in them? Read more here at Non-Toxic Munchkin.

The first place I looked was Honest diapers. My aunt bought me a huge box of them as part of a generous housewarming gift collection when we moved (I love you Aunt Mary!). I really loved Honest diapers and was SHOCKED by how long the box lasted. I had never seen diapers stretch so far!

That’s when I realized that maybe buying the cheapest diapers on the shelves wasn’t actually saving me any money.

So I started the hunt for the best, most affordable disposable diapers.

I chose Babyganics Diapers because they are free of chlorine, latex, petroleum based lotions and fragrances. BTW, did you know that synthetic fragrance can be highly toxic and even carcinogenic? I’ll link to an article by HuffPost with the scoop below.

How Do Babyganics Diapers Compare To Other Brands?

Quality

The quality is one of my favorite things about these diapers. I would compare them to Honest diapers (another favorite brand) as far as the quality.

Babyganics advertise “Ultra Absorbent” and they are not kidding! I’ve found that the ratio is about 2 to 1 if you compare them to Parents Choice or Pampers. So for every 1 Babyganics Diaper we would go through two Parents Choice or Pampers.

Do they last through the night?

That’s a resounding YES! They do for us!

This is a major bonus considering I would have to change our baby around 3 am in the morning when using Pampers or Parents Choice. Often times the Pampers or Parents Choice had already leaked by then too. Not fun to have to deal with in the night, especially since changing him would always wake him for awhile too.

When our baby was smaller, in the size 3’s, I found that for every 1 Babyganics he would go through around 3 and sometimes 4 of the Parents Choice!

Price

These are a little pricier than Parents Choice (.17 cents per diaper) and Pampers (.27 cents per diaper), but not really if you consider they outlast Pampers and Parents Choice by double.

And these are not the priciest! Size 4 Honest diapers are .44 cents per diaper.

Babyganics are 38. cents but I get them for just 31. cents because I’m on Subscribe and Save which I highly recommend!

  1. Hey, kudos to you for cloth-diapering as long as you did! (and yeah, with 5 others, i could see it being hard to squeeze this in for #6 too!). I am really impressed to hear about these diapers – and thanks as well for mentioning Think Dirty – had not heard of this, but sounds like a super tool!

  2. I’ve never tried Babyganics for my little guy or my daughter. Definitely perfect timing as I’m finding I’m not really getting a bang for my buck, and I’m super concerned about the toxic materials used! Thanks for your insight and comparisons here. Helps so much!

  3. I am looking for diapers to add to my registry now. I usually go with Pampers brands because others have given my daughter a chemical burn. I like that these last through the night too.

  4. Thanks so much for the breakdown! Especially for the price breakdown. The price really isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, in comparison to other brands. Luckily, we are all potty trained in our house now! That was a big task, but huge success!

  5. I love learning about organic brands. Great to see that smaller companies are creating products parent love too.

  6. I definitely need to check out thinkdirty. I try to live synthetic chemically free too – especially eliminating synthetic food dyes from our diet but it’s so stinking hard here in the US. It makes me so sad! And like you said – look at all those toxins in regular diapers. WHY??!! Thank you for this great review. Praise God we are out of the diaper phase but we do use babyganics other products.

  7. These sound amazing! I have never tried them, but I am the same way and chose a more natural product for anything that touches our skin.

  8. Ummmm, the fact you’re even thinking about attempting cloth diapering on your SIXTH child means you’re a supermom! And all the mamas I know rave over Babyganics!

I sure wish these options were available when I had my twins! Thanks for sharing this news with us!

  10. Yes this is so important! I know my best friend had such a hard time finding diapers she felt comfortable using on her littles. She already had sensitive skin and was so worried about her babes!

  11. I love that there are so many more options for diapering choices these days! My youngest just turned 11 so I’m certainly out of that stage…unless there’s a surprise lol

  12. Oh my goodness, I’m so glad I found this review. I am in desperate need for a diaper that doesn’t leak! My three month old is leaking through his diaper every night right now! Yikes!

  13. I wondered about this brand when I still had babies. I’ll have to pass this info along to my pregnant friends. Thanks for sharing!

  14. I’ve never heard of these! Thanks for sharing all about them. I’ll be sure to pass thing along to my friend who is pregnant with her first

  15. Thanks for your review. I’ve never tried their diapers but we’ve used their Swim Diapers and I loved them. My son loved the froggy on them. We use 7th Gen and have been mostly happy. But it’s nice to know that there are other alternatives.

  16. This is so interesting. I wish I had known about these non-toxic diapers earlier! They are more expensive than what I used for my kids, but they seem to be much better quality. Thanks for sharing.

  17. These sound like a wonderful brand for baby! I don’t plan on having anymore children, but I will pass this onto a friend currently expecting.

  18. Thanks for the awesome review! My kiddos are potty trained now, but I wish I had gotten around to trying out this brand. I used Pampers for my kiddos, but cleaner options are always a good thing in my book.

  19. I love that there are better diaper options now. I cloth diapered for several months, but had to quit for a variety of reasons. It’s good to know there are better natural diapers out there now.

What do you think? I really want to know! If you have feedback or something to add to this post let's hear it!
