Amazing YouTube Storytime Channels for Kids

Friends, I’ve made a discovery that I didn’t know existed! Did you all know there are some amazing YouTube Storytime Channels for kids? I didn’t know this until this past week! Who out there needs a quiet break in your day,-or a little help?

Okay, I know, some people are going to say this tip is totally cheating; this post isn’t for those parents though!

This post is for parents who need a breather because they have a large brood like me, work from home, and/or are homeschooling, who don’t have many people to help them out but would appreciate a hand and aren’t afraid to admit it!

It’s also for parents out there that have a child or two like my youngest daughter, who receives up to two hours of older siblings and parents reading to her daily and yet still she wants more.

I discovered these amazing YouTube storytime channels one day at about 3:30 pm, right about the time my 6 kids start getting super loud, roudy, and when meltdowns are most likely to occur. It’s also around that time of day I’m totally exhausted from homeschooling and managing home/kids.

I’ve been trying to establish this as a quiet time each day around this time. The goal is to get the kids to relax with a book of choice and read for awhile (quietly). I’ve been having trouble making this happen for more than 5 minutes though. Two words, people. Four boys. Of course it doesn’t help having a toddler and ADHD kids in the mix.

Somehow “quiet reading time” always translates into “have a wrestling match on my furniture and don’t forget to be as loud as you can!” Either that or “Hey kid’s, it’s time to bicker about things that happened 1.5 years ago-oh-and don’t forget to do this LOUDLY”.

What can I say. Six kids are noisy, and can be wild.

This is why I was so excited to find Amazing YouTube Storytime Channels for Kids. Immediately after finding these channels I called all the kids in. The two oldest kids were of course too old for these channels and the third is almost too old, but I wanted them to come see so they could help their younger siblings find the channels in the future.

Shortly after beginning our first story hour the youngest child fell asleep. Then the second youngest. All the other kids were completely enthralled and were absolutely silent for the entire duration of storytime. Seriously. My house has NEVER been as quiet as when I discovered this hack. It was so quiet and the reading voices were so soothing that my oldest kid even fell asleep while he was trying to read a book!

I spent the hour doing a little research to find more storytime channels and sipping on iced tea. Afterwards I felt recharged and the kids went outside to play–all except the youngest daughter who had woken up and wanted to watch the stories she missed because she fell asleep.

Here are the Amazing YouTube Storytime Channels for Kids that I found to share with you all. PLEASE NOTE that I’ve not yet gone through and heard all the stories being told. In fact there was one channel I had in this list that had many lovely stories and I thought it was going to be a great channel-however I took it out because the reader did have book promoting the LBGT agenda. So-you might want to scan through the playlists before you play them for your child just to make sure they align with your beliefs.
