Looking for some bucket list ideas do do with the kids this fall? Today I’ve got 6 Fantastic Kids Fall Bucket List Activities for you!

Was anybody else sad to see summer 2019 come to an end? I sure was! We had the most fun summer that we’ve EVER had! It was uh-ma-zing!!! So amazing that I’m already planning and budgeting for next summer (kayaks are on the list for sure!).

So over the summer we still had to do summer school, which wasn’t so fun. Due to our move last year, 7 visits from family during school months, and more colds than usual we lost months from last school year😖! We usually always do half school days for at least three or four days during the summer-but this last summer we had to do full days 😔.

To help ease the blow, on one day a week I would schedule opportunities to take full advantage of the Pacific Northwest adventures, with so many of them just minutes from our front door! I loved taking my family to all my old favorite places and stomping grounds.

From swimming in lakes and atop waterfalls to hiking in the mountains, huckleberry picking with friends, cherry picking, and more, we had such a blast!

Come September I had mixed feelings about summer ending. I was ready to curl up with the schoolbooks and blankets but at the same time the mountains were still calling. I decided to create a bucket list with 6 fantastic kids fall bucket list activities to wind down and enjoy the last bit of decent weather outdoors with so to speak.

6 Fantastic Kids Fall Bucket List Activities 1

I wanted to keep the fall bucket list a secret from the kids until I was ready and knew I could pull off each activity because I wasn’t sure if we would be able to do each thing on the list with how intense this school year has been (I’m currently homeschooling 5 of our 6). I didn’t want the kids to be too disappointed if we didn’t get to everything this year (which I don’t think we will due to an unexpected turn of events).

The best thing about this list though is that it’s not too little and it’s not too much. I felt like it was just the right level of achievability for this busy, homeschooling mama. If it were not for the unexpected turn of events we would have gotten through the entire list! And you never know, we might be able to yet (although it’s not looking promising at this point).

But even though we didn’t make it to everything on the list that doesn’t mean you can’t! And what we did accomplish was just enough to help us feel like we got to experience and enjoy fall! I think even if you were only able to pick a couple things to do off this list you’d feel the same!

If you’ve never been to a pumpkin patch and corn maze you are in for a treat. We went last year, but I was under waaaay too much stress to enjoy it, in fact, last year it actually stressed me out more by going (we had just moved over 1700 miles and were in the process of buying a home). This year was a different story though. We had so much fun!

Autumn Crowns

I cannot take credit for this idea. I got it from Emily on Instagram over at The Hidden Way. Is it just me or do you find all the crafty Instagram moms SO very inspiring? I love scrolling through feeds like Emily’s to help me get in the homeschooling and creative crafty mood when I’m just not feelin it.

Leaf Art

Thank you Instamoms (again) and Pinterest for leaf art inspo!

The idea’s there took care of arts and crafts for almost two weeks for the kids! I let my oldest daughter be in charge of the leaf art. I wanted to participate but arts and crafts always falls during the late afternoon when it is time for me to make dinner. I was so proud of how she planned the leaf art and led the way for the smaller kids! I realized there are more things I could probably start handing over to her like this through this process.

Here’s our autumn idea board on Pinterest.

Visit An Apple Orchard

This is one of the two things on our bucket list we were not able to do and I don’t think we’ll be able to pull off this year. But we do have the next best thing! My husband came across some wild apple trees at his work and picked several gallons! And guess what, they are the perfect pie apples!

Since we don’t actually need to visit the apple orchard now I decided to modify this activity and instead teach the kids how to make apple pies and maybe we can can some of the apples for use through the winter.

One Last Hike

I had wanted to go on one last hike before cold weather set in. The day we had scheduled to go we had a rouge winter storm come through though. It was freezing! I’m not sure if we’ll be able to fit this in now. Oh well, there’s always next year and we have some beautiful memories from hikes this year!

  1. We went to the pumpkin patch this year but didn’t last long because it was a very cold and windy day. Will have to try again next year.
