5 Easy Easter Activities for Kids
1. Easy Easter Table Runner & Place Mats
I got this idea from one of my favorite bloggers, Casey Weigand. All you’ll need for this are markers, crayons, colored pencils or paints and freezer paper. My kids and I loved this activity and it kept them busy for over an hour.
They were surprised to learn that it can stay until Easter! One of my little boys kept asking when we were going to take it off the table, it seemed wrong to him to leave it there. I told him I wanted to leave it until Easter and then he asked how many day’s away Easter was, when I told him he got a wide eyed look of wonder and puzzlement!
Since they had so much fun with it that I decided not to limit them to one, and I let them make placemats too. I think we will set the placemats aside until Easter though since they won’t last that long.
2. Watercolor Easter Cards
We made these one year and kept them as décor. I am letting the kids add to the collection if they want. Who knows, someday we may have a little book of Easter watercolor cards!
3. Fruits Of The Spirit Easter Eggs
This is an idea from our first easter, many years ago. One of my favorite things to do after coloring the eggs is to write the Fruits of the Spirit on the eggs. Last year I discovered a fun game to add to this, where we assign a candy to each Fruit of the Spirit. You can read all about the reasoning behind the Fruits of the Spirit on the eggs and how to do the activity in my Fruits Of The Spirit Easter Egg Hunt & Free Treat Sheet post.
4. Reading the Easter Story & Movie
I know, this one is a no brainer! For the older kids we may be watching The Passion, especially since our middle son has been asking to get baptized and watching The Passion has always been part of my husbands Bible study and process when our children decide to become baptized.
For the younger children we will read from the children’s Bible in some of the days leading up to Easter and they will watch THIS on Amazon Prime.
For all the children on Easter Sunday morning we will read straight from the Scriptures, this has been a tradition for years for us! My husband uses THIS RESOURCE for a few of the best verses on the resurrection.
We also have this book that we will start reading the week before Easter.
5. Super Easy Easter Centerpiece
I completely left my children in charge of this. Kids love it when you let them take over things like this that you would normally do! At least, my kids do! I thought they did a sweet job with the centerpiece for Easter!
Conclusion
In a world where there are so many things vying and even shouting for our attention, especially on holiday’s, it’s like a calm in the storm to slow down and remember Jesus, and to remember to pass His truth and words of life on to our children!
A couple other verses I’m finding especially comforting this particular year are;
And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.
John 20:20-21
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:34
As a parent that deals with anxiety I love to remember 3 John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. “
This helps me keep perspective, and remember that this life is just a stepping stone-and it helps me to remember to be sure to teach my kids about what’s really important in this life!
