Today I want to talk about 3 Insider Low Income Homemaking Tips, & share some verses that define Prosperity in God’s Eyes.
Three weeks ago I published a video about Low Income Homemaking and I promised my YT audience I’d do a dedicated video with low income homemaking tips, and share how to have nice things on a low income.
Last week, somebody left a comment on that video that was so profound it propelled me into thought. And a little Bible study. I knew I had to share what I found with you because what was shared was so FREEING!
Watch today’s video to hear what I learned or scroll down to get the basic idea.
3 Insider Low Income Homemaking Tips
I’m not sharing all the tips that are in the video, but here are 3 Insider Low Income Homemaking Tips.
Research Every Big Purchase
Time and time again we have made purchases for things like washing machines, refrigerators and other appliances, hoping they would last. Almost as soon as warranties expire, so does the appliance! We learned that when possible, to start researching every big purchase first.
Appliances I do not recommend include Z Line stoves, Maytag, and Kenmore. We’ve had bad luck with all of those.
Brands that seem better include Bosch and LG. I’ve also heard good things about Kitchen Aid appliances, but don’t get the new Kitchen Aid for bread making. They are horrible for that!
Look At Finance Programs
Have you ever had a major appliance you need and use daily go out, and not had the money to replace it? That is a stressful pickle! If you are low income you probably live paycheck to paycheck, and being forced to constantly replace items that are no longer made to last can be dismal.
We used to buy used, and this is a not a bad option. The only problem is you are getting something that might not last much longer since it’s already half or more used.
Lowes and Home Depot do have credit programs and consistent offers for purchasing with 24 months financing. If you choose to do this, however, you definitely want to be sure to follow the first tip and research FIRST.
Thrift
I get so many compliments on my home decor and style. I like to joke that most our home is either thrifted or gifted though! Or dumpster dived for! One time my husband found REAL silver silverware in a DUMPSTER! Like, who throws away REAL silver?
I’ve got chairs and tables that my husband saved from a dumpster, and most my favorite and most beautiful home decor was either thrifted or bought second hand.
If you are going to decorate your home this way, it does require patience. I’ve been known to wait 5 years before finally scoring some pieces.
Prosperity in God’s Eyes
I wanted to share some Bible verses that helped shift my perspective when it comes to being “low income”.
Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Proverbs 10:22 “The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.”
Hebrews 13:5 “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Deuteronomy 28:1-14 “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.”
Conclusion; God’s idea of prosperity and man’s idea of prosperity are not the same, especially in the day and age we are living in now. By shifting our perspective and viewing prosperity through the Word of God, it’s refreshing because as we count our blessings, we can see that perhaps we have not fallen through the cracks. Perhaps we are all doing better than we realized.
