#1 Secret To Hosting Elaborate Holiday Feasts With Grace
My #1 secret to hosting elaborate holiday feasts with grace and less stress is prepare in advance. One way I do this is to pick dishes that I can make (and that will hold over) in advance. In the video and in My Christmas Dinner Menu Plan that is in my Homestead Holidays meal plans has our favorites.
Usually I start preparing for hosting an event up to a month in advance. If I plan to make something like spanakopita for Christmas, I make a double batch a month before Christmas. Spanakopita freezes well so I make one batch for dinner and another to freeze for Christmas. Cranberry sauce is another thing that keeps and freezes well.
Other things that won’t keep like my Easy Ham & Potatoes or green bean casserole, I’ll make at least two days in advance.
Another way I prepare in advance is with my HOSTING A DINNER PARTY CHECKLIST FOUND HERE. It has little tasks and some big ones that one can start a few days in advance, like cleaning out the fridge, and cleaning the house. It has a checklist for the day of hosting as well, and ever since we started using the checklist hosting has been a BREEZE.
History Of Christmas
I think most people know the history of Christmas. The holiday was established during the reign of Constantine, A Roman Emperor who became a Christian. December 25th was chosen for a special reason. Constantine and Church were looking for a way to replace the Roman’s pagan holiday of Saturnalia, and they succeeded. I think Christmas is a beautiful example of how Christ is able to make all things new.
Isaiah 61:3, which says, “To all who mourn he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair”
The Most Popular Christmas Dinners Around The World
So what is the most popular Christmas dinner around the world? Pork! Second is Turkey. In the United States, I always though ham was the traditional Christmas dinner, but it turns out Turkey is more popular. I would never have guessed that because I wouldn’t think people would want it again so soon after Thanksgiving. Apparently Americans love turkey though!
